About Miss KATHRYN

Miss Kathryn Principal of KD Dance Academy is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dance in London, where she obtained a BA Hons degree in Ballet Education. She studied there for 3 years and is now a registered RAD teacher teaching the RAD ballet syllabus to children aged 3+ . Over the years Kathryn has gained invaluable teaching experience in many successful ballet schools in London including the English National Ballet Junior School, and more recently in Whitehouse Ballet School Belfast. In addition, she has established her own Ballet school KD Dance Academy which has seen an amazing enrolment in 4 years and a 100 percent exam success rate. Kathryn was delighted this year (2020) to be the one of 4 people, and the only one from Northern Ireland, to be shortlisted by the Royal Academy of Dance for an Early Career Dance Teachers Award, a true reflection of the ‘brilliant work and commitment’ she has for her school and students.

Throughout her own training, Kathryn gained RAD examinations to a high level in Ballet and completed training in Contemporary, Jazz, Singing and Drama. She has also been trained by Darcey Bussell and gained qualifications in Darcey’s new fitness programme, Diverse Dance Mix (DDMIX). Kathryn continues to keep herself updated through her CPD training in order to deliver the most up to date curriculum to her students with the most recent course completed being ‘Progressive Ballet Technique.’

Kathryn has choreographed dance pieces that have been performed on the Royal Academy of Dance stage and assisted in the production of Dance Proms which takes place each year at the Royal Albert Hall, London. She has also been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to dance at the Royal Albert Hall, London and tour in a production of Swan Lake.
